Promising Lithium Advances - 10x Battery Life

EcoGeeek is running a bit of great news - just the thing to spark your interest in batteries. Researchers at Stanford University have created a lithium-based battery that relies on silicon rather than carbon for its supporting structure. In getting the batteries to stretch but not break their internal connections, researchers have created batteries that can hold up to 10 times the current capacity - enough to surpass the total energy stored in a petrol tank!
While the new technology is just in the research stages, such advances would be manna from heaven for what is arguably the weakest point in electric car developments.
