Super-Powred Milk Float? Suggestions Please!

Hi,

I'm a singer-songwriter from Norfolk and am planning a UK tour in 2015 and want to use a milk float as my tour bus / performance space. I'm really keen to use green energy which is partly why I came up with the idea, but having been in touch with some specialist companies and also talked to some dairies I'm wondering if normal milk-float batteries would be powerful enough? Also, it sounds like they wouldn't be very efficient in terms of low carbon impact as I'd still need to charge them up daily. I'd be travelling a maximum of 30 miles per day / 200 miles per week.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm working on a fairly limited budget of £5000 - £7000 maximum.

Many thanks,

Paul

You could get a working Modec truck, with flatbed for around £4k look on ebay.
MIlk floats often need 3phase for the chargers. That could be a problem, but the Modec would probably need that as well. An Aixam mega truck could be a bit small, but well within your budget, but under powered and may struggle to do 35miles a day.

Good luck

You got your float then?! I saw your post on the moribund yahoo forum. The charging lead you need is this one:

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your message. What kind of cable / system would I need to charge my milk float from a normal plug socket? I'm also going to be staying on camp sites.

Many thanks!

Paul

I was on there before I ever knew about this forum, but it has been very quiet of late. Good to see Paul getting the help he has asked for.
