I have been asked by a student writing a dissertation on electric cars if I could post a link to a questionnaire he has put together.

It's very short - it took me less than three minutes to fill it in.

Here's the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=J ... n3Tw_3d_3d

I filled it in but had to use some of the boxes to add comments.

I found it to be more aimed at someone who didnt drive an EV already.

Filled it in but some of my answers will seem a bit odd as the questions didnt really fit for someone who already owns and drives and enjoys the EV life 8)

I filled it in, though it wasn't the best worded questionnaire. I would be interested to know more about the research he is doing though.

Hi, thanks to everyone who has filled it in.
I am the student in question, I now have just over 330 responses. It was aimed at non-electric vehicle drivers predominantly to find out their views of electric vehicles. At the time of writing it I thought I would be lucky to receive 50 responses so to have had so many has been brilliant and has provided me with a wide range of views.

My dissertation itself focuses on a specific type of battery, the nanotechnology lithium ion battery to be used in the lightning gt and whether the development of this battery will play an important part in the future of vehicle power on the whole. The survey was designed to find the publics general perceptions of electric vehicles which I can then analyse to see how hard it would be to introduce electric power, ie what would be the biggest hurdles to overcome for the public to accept it?

I will of course give you access to the completed survey shortly, you will then be able to see for yourselves the challenges that electric cars face!

For example so far 39.4% would chose hydrogen if petrol/diesel was not available, 23.4% would chose bio fuel, 21.3% lpg and only 15.9% electric.
However 47.4% said they would drive an electric vehicle.
Interestingly there is 14.2% of people who think electric cars are not supported by government! I thought it was common knowledge that the government likes green cars but there you go.
I hope that you will all find reading the final results interesting.

If you have any question or thoughts for me please don't hold back!
Thanks, Lloyd

Hi Lloyd

Looks like the same survey as on the mini forum. I've only completed it once though...

Interesting, and a little worrying, that three times as many people voted for hydrogen as electric, especially when hydrogen is electric.

Look forward to seeing the rest of the results.
