My first EV bike scooter thingy

Postby Night Train » Mon Jul 21, 2008 10:20 am

I have just got one of these at a car boot. I don't know anything about it but it works and has a charger.

I will probably play with it for a bit and then see if I can get bits off to use on a more sensible machine.

Any thoughts?

NT says "Any thoughts?"

Yep -

1) You could attach small fan blade/s to the motor shaft.
Power the motor with expensive PV cells and have a free ! to run electric fan.

Probably never recover the cost of the PV cells though :-(

2) Drive the motor with a huge Savonius wind rotor charging a 12 volt battery (Yes I know the motor is rated at 24 volts (But you'll be lucky to get that)) and have free LED lighting.

You can use a 7815 positive going type voltage regulator (Or a 7915 Negative type (If you think Negatively)).
Stick a couple of diodes on the output of the 7815 to reduce the voltage to charge the battery to about 13 point something volts.

Well - - - You did ask !!!

P.S. Im as mad as I write, I have a couple of these type of motors, Im actually going to try to make a Savonius wind generator to drive one or two of the motors.
