Freccia Sold!

Postby EVguru » Fri Jan 04, 2008 6:10 pm

Well, I've sold my Cagiva Freccia conversion.

It's Ok, it's goind to another BVS member and the funds are going into the next Freccia conversion.

The plan is:-

1990 Freccia C12 http://www.bikepics.com/cagiva/frecciac12/ (revised bodywork over C9)
Agni 'Race' motor.
40 off 40Ah Iron Phosphate Thundersky cells giving 128v nominal.

The controller may be a problem and there really aren't any designed for a low impeadance PM motor that run at over 72 volt.

Sounds like the Mark II should have good performance and range. Is that a special version of the Agni motor that Cedric Lynch is building for you?

Stupid question: is it possible to run two DC controllers in series to give a higher voltage?

You may already have seen this Paul, but just in case – someone on the EVDL reckons that Kelly is bringing out a 144V DC controller in a couple of months

The same thread also gives one answer to my stupid question:
"One specific reason why you cannot use two controllers in series is
that they will not be switching at the same time. This is where they
would need to be designed for the application. It's a similar issue
to the timing of multiple parallel MOSFETs for current increase. If
the two controllers aren't turning their output stages "on" at the
exact same moment the one that's not on will see full pack voltage."

I only dip into the EVDL occasionally these days, too much noise!

I've been lokking at Kelly controllers, but I wan't to see some real world experience first. Alltrax had problems with low impeadance motors before doing a re-design (re-program).

You can't run a pair of controllers in series for many reasons, but a simple reason is 'where would you connect the motor?'.
