Hi All,

Six weeks before the event, we took the decision to enter a drag bike into the Alternative Energy Drag Race 2009. So, with a new CAD file, the team got started. 18 hours after finishing the bike, we won the Zero Emission class, with what is believed to be the fastest time for a 144V bike in Europe 14.998 and 92mph.

Specification: 144V 16Ah LiFeBATT X-1P Battery Pack, 2 X LEM200 D127 Motors, Logisystems 144V 1000A Controller, purpose built drag bike frame.

I must thank Paul Brandon and Andy Irvine at Kingston Uni who did a fantastic job designing and building the bike. And my team of LiFeBATT staff, who built up the 96 cell battery pack and ancillary electronics.

Also, thanks to Andy at EVMotorCycle.org for his video editing skills.

Cheers,

Ian

Well done you! :-)

I am sure that BVS members who aren't online would be interested to hear about this too. If you felt like dropping Brian Hampton an email about it for publishing in the next magazine that would be great.

Mary.

Good work Ian, I hope the LifeBatt team goes on to set more UK records this year!
The battery pack is very impressive.

Are you going to take it to the TTXGP for show?

Hi Steve,

We are taking it to TTXGP, but NOT for show.... We are going to compete in the Ramsey Sprint during TT week!

1/8 mile drag race on the Tuesday, between the TTXGP practice days.
