I got this news article through today about how the EU are going to be sorting out the 'problem' of EVs being quieter than other vehicles. I know.....EU, myths about EVs being a problem, regulations blah blah blah....but it got me thinking. If you had to have a noise on your EV, what would you have?

Me? I think the Ride of the Valkyries at full volume, but those who have met me probably wouldn't be surprised at that. What about you? :?:

Take a look at the news item here - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/e ... ttr=797084

I like the idea of horse hooves on cobbles, speeding up as you accelerate, then shifting to a gallop over about 30mph.
Or a V8.

VW Audi Group's W12 engine sounds fantastic - I'll take one of those, please!

Well I'd prefer people to pay a bit more attention to vehicles rather than us having to strap stupid sounds on to our nice quiet vehicles.

Once again we see beaurocracy and namby pambying overiding common sence

Ah, well me too and I know it's a bit of a myth really but I think I thought it would be fun to find out people's opinion on this one! Sometimes too no matter how 'safe' you make something there's always someone (and there's one born every minute) who will prove an idiot-proof system is not necessarily so.

I was thinking actually, I've changed my mind. I want the Crazy Frog song you can get for mobile phones instead. If you're going to shatter the peace, you might as well do it properly.

Yep if they want to strap stupid sounds on then why not

If they ever try this one, then I'll counter act it with a case for cyclists to add noise to their cycles and the same for those llittle disabled buggies that roam the pavements at break neck speed at times

I would be quite happy with my EV being deathly silent but with a little toot on the audiable warning device to let then know I am there.

Other wise I could have a Cummins 6BT.

Or this, I like this, it sounds like my old AEC Matador. :D
Actually, I really do like this! I want one! :|

This would be fun though!

The latest news from the world of Internal Combustion Engines is that BMW are working on virtually silent diesel engines using speakers to cancel out the engine noise.

Quiet ICE cars?

It'll never catch on. The EU will make BMW add a noise maker to the car to alert pedestrians that a car is coming.

Soon silencers will be banned as car makers compete to make more and more noise so that it is their car that is heard above the incessent din of all the others.
