An overcharged cell is a warmer cell. An non-bottom balanced cell that hit reverse voltage is a hot cell.

A simple circuit to say, an Elcon charger who's "off" & current limiter line is used to current limit on temperature.. Nothing else is needed to stop the charge when cold. Or something gets inordinately warm, (Could be only the weather). Nothing else because the correct charger does not allow over volting and bottom balancing does not allow any cell to hit reverse voltage. Racks of open circuits that get damaged from so much as throwing in a damp towel are not sensible.

Thermal mass also equates to AH. The only difference is the small stuff hits the fan much more quickly.

Let me add to this - excessive heat is only generated by a cell when it is used outside of it's paramters. If you suck too high a current out of a cell then it will heat up. But if that cell is cold then the voltage will sag dramatically when cold - so you should only draw the ampage out that keeps the cell above it's minimum working voltage. If you charge a cell and let it go over it's maximum voltage then it will start to generate heat. So in my believe the voltage is the most important factor to consider when managing a cell. Keep the cells within the manufactures specified limits and it should last.

Not heard any news myself yet but...

I hear Sinopoly have gone back to selling cells outside of China, via dealers.

Absolutely!
The easiest and quickest for the UK. Good reports from Anne (we must pronounce his name as "Onne"). He personally specialises on electric boats. Being in the Amsterdam area with power sockets aplenty at mooring points, we can't blame him!

CALB have a new player on the block. It's a small cell in size but somewhat bigger on price. The energy/volume density has set new ground.

The outcome is 60% of the volume and 80% of the weight saving of the standard CALB CA series cell. Totally super duper for say an electric motorcycle, or a drag vehicle (20C discharge rate).

Not the energy density weight of Teslas 18650 cells but will last a sight longer than any production cars cells if your system does not overcharge or over discharge them. :D
