Peter,

Do you know if anyone has a copy of the Thunder Sky datasheets on a reliable webserver? I am struggling to download them directly from TS.

I am planning a big pack, and really need to know more about how to use them. Do you know if it is possible (or recommended) to run packs in parallel? I had heard that this was not possible, but I don't know why.

The price of £1.00-£1.10 per Ah is our target price and comes from 'Reap Systems' We won't know an accurate or final price until we have suffcient expressions of interest and they (Reap) have approached TS on our behalf for a quote on our bulk order. I believe the price quoted varies wildy on the TS site and is clearly only a guide.

That partially answered my question, I will assume the £1.00 - £1.10/Ah is for the LCP cells. I am also considering the LMP 400 Ah x 28? What sort of pricing could we hope for on the LMP cells?

I noticed that all the pdf's are working on the Thundersky site,
just the link names have errors in many cases.

"Interpolating" from the working links, it is easy to correct the broken
links to get all datasheets.

All the links are http://www.thunder-sky.com/pdf/BATTERYNAME

BATTERYNAME:

LCP Batteries: TS-LCPXX.pdf e.g. TS-LCP90.pdf
LFP Batteries: TS-LFPxx.pdf e.g. TS-LFP90.pdf
LP Batteries: TS-LP12Vxx.pdf e.g. TS-LP12V20.pdf

and so on
One just has to correct the names on the navigation line of the browser.

Hope this helps,
thomas

We don't know yet, but assume same guide price to get an idea. :?

6 HOURS later!

I still need to learn the difference between LCP and LMP, and if LFP is worth waiting for. The voltage range on LMP seems much greater - from 2.5~4.3v rather than 3.0~4.2v for LCP. What does this mean, in practice?

Different chemistry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_ion_battery

I bought my first Li-Ion TS cells 5 years ago, nothing affordable has come along since then to cause me to change my mind about ordering further cells at present. Your more likely to get old and die before the perfect EV battery comes along. I could have waited 5 years and I would still be ordering the TS cells now. Yes there are lot's of emerging new tech and suppliers but how long before something affordable is available?

OK- homework nearly done.

LCP200's seem best/ most popular, but I still need to know about parallelling strings of them. I am thinking of 4 banks of 45 cells, to give 800Ah at 162v (180 cells total).

Peter, can you ask Stephanie or Dennis, or do you know yourself, if this arrangement is recommended to increase capacity. It seems more flexible than using 800Ah cells (finding somewhere to fit them all, and less money down the drain if one cell goes duff)

The TS manual states (page 25):
"If you want to assemble one battery pack pack you will have to put cells in series or put them in parallel connection, however the optimum battery systems should be in series only which is better for the intallation of BMS."

So if I am to use the REAP BMS, I really need an answer from them.

I have half the money ready, and am searching down the back of the sofa for the rest..

Also sent as PM

Yep, GrumpyBs spare Berlingo.

I'm hoping PeterP can get the price down to £1/Ah/cell, which would be

200 x 180 = £36,000 eek!

On the other hand, assuming a heavy Berlingo will do 400 Wh/mile (equivalent to 50 miles from 20kWh),
(200Ah x 3.6v x 180)/400 = 324 miles, or 259 to 80%, 226 to 70%

Mary's dad lives 243 miles away in Orpington ...
