Finally knocked the body and seat off the mobility scooter and stuck a UJ and strg wheel on it for my daughter to drive.

Its nowhere near a finished product, hence the cable ties, sticky tape, bits of copper pipe and over long bolts. My dad says he'll make a jeep body for it, but my 21 month old daughter loves driving it as it is. She went for a 45 minute cruise the other night...

It quite good as its possible to set the max speed, and she can vary the speed within that. She's not quite grasped the concept of needing to avoid everything, but she is getting there!

Now that looks like a true BVS machine! Of course she doesn't want a fancy body on it! I hope it's got miss matched instrumentation with bits of paper with ballpoint recalibrated dials too. Even better if they are different coloured inks

Is she a fully paid up member and did she vote for the AGM?

So....a year and a half later I have sort of finished the conversion of this little mobility scooter. Originally it was going to be a Jeep or something similar, but my imagination and childhood dream got in the way and a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica rolled out of the garage this morning.

Still needs wheels painting red, wings to be sewn (the type that make it fly), carpet for the floor, a wooden steering wheel, rear lights - and the light wires tidying up behind the grille. Purposefully doesn't have an exhast pipe, cos its electric

Could do with changing the gearing as it'll do 16mph at the moment. I have a remote cut off switch, just in case.

It has got real leather interior, oak veneer boat bit on the back, the bonnet is made from real titanium (cos there was some knocking about). Radiator is made from rolled brass and the lights are analogue clocks with IKEA kitchen lights inside - the real Chitty's lights were also made from modified clocks

We've started gathering parts for the next poject, a Caterham 7, for our youngest daughter...

We went to see the stage production of Chitty the other day, she loved it - and it seems the DVD is on a constant loop in our house - even my youngest is singing along now!

Changed the gearing today so its not as quite as quick. It was overgeared and things were getting hotter in the warm weather.

I still recon this is a fantastic use of a disabled buggy......best so far and as MB says far too good, wheres all the wires or things held together with sticky tape
