NEW PMAC US

Postby stuart mills » Thu Feb 11, 2010 10:31 pm

Wondered if anyone else had problems with the MARS pmac motor. I just fired up a new one today and it ran for 30 seconds@2000rpm and then jammed solid. I took it apart and found the magnets had fallen off the back plate. Strange but although they seemed to have been bonded on the surface felt a little greasy. Ihace it for scrap value now if anyone needs it or has three spare magnets as 3 cracked and 5 are O.K Please call me on 01623 655522 if it's of interest or you could repair it.

Sorry you too got caught by the PM bug, if you make sure that your PM hasn't got any £ signs in it then it should work OK (goodness only knows why, it took me a good hour of faffing around to discover this!).

They are currently on sale in Canada for $250 CAN, or around £155 at current exchange rates I believe, according to this link: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... 30&t=16568. Obviously there would be a fair whack of shipping, VAT, duty etc on top of that, so the total price would end up closer to £250 I suspect, but it still seems to be a good price. I think I paid around £450 all in for my big Mars brushed motor, direct from John Fiorenza at Mars Electric LLC.

That's good news, Stuart.

I found Mars Electric pretty good to deal with too. My ME0709 had some minor shipping damage (a ding in the pressed metal end cover) and they shipped out a new cover and brush holder set free of charge and very promptly. Nice to see that their customer service is still pretty good.
