I have lots of time out errors, almost every day.

this is actually a re-post as I've just received this error: -

Failed obtaining forum access control lists

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query

SELECT a.forum_id, a.auth_view, a.auth_read, a.auth_post, a.auth_reply, a.auth_edit, a.auth_delete, a.auth_sticky, a.auth_announce, a.auth_vote, a.auth_pollcreate, a.auth_mod FROM phpbb_auth_access a, phpbb_user_group ug WHERE ug.user_id = 20 AND ug.user_pending = 0 AND a.group_id = ug.group_id AND a.forum_id = 20

File : auth.php

Is it a question of money for the hosting?

How big is the forum and it's software?

How much bandwidth are we using each month.

I have a paid package for my own website with a fair bit of space and bandwidth available.

I have 1gb space and 10gb bandwidth month unused at present is that any use?

I use webfusion.

I'm happy to donate money (£50) to help run the board on a decent host if people prefer that.

Yes, the move is in progress. My weekend away at Newark got in the way.

Thanks for posting your error, Floydster. I haven't encountered that one on this server.

Once everything is ready on the new host, the site will be offline for a couple of hours while I rebuild the database.

Sometimes I get:
>The server is too busy at the moment.
>Please reload this page few seconds later.

Thanks Wilfried and qdos for reporting the errors you have seen.

The free host has turned out to be a failed experiment - we are just too resource hungry for them.

We will be on the move soon. Work got a bit hectic this week, preventing me from shuffling us across. Thank you for your patience.

The move will be tomorrow morning when I get back from my nightshift. Hopefully you won't notice a thing except better connection stability! The site will be offline for a short time as I disable posting, backup and transfer the data to our new host.

Longer downtime than I'd hoped, and we are still with the freehost. Computer problems with them and me prevented me taking a second database backup. Changeover will now be when I have overcome this problem. I will keep you all informed.
