Public Track Day RWYB This Weekend

Postby ex925 » Thu May 13, 2010 7:13 pm

Following last weekend?s successful Model Air Show event Long Marston Airfield reverts back into a drag strip this weekend as Shakespeare County Raceway gears up for another expected busy Test & Tune Public Track Day Weekend - May 15th/16th.

High on the list of visiting Run What Ya Brung series is the second encounter of the season for the amateur competitors in the Pro Street Drag Series for Japanese and European cars. A good turn out welcomed the 2010 season in last month with rookie Yasir Dar driving a slightly tweeked Honda Civic taking the top time followed by season veteran Scooby Dazza in, what else, a very rapid Subaru Impreza.

Further tin top action comes courtesy from the guys and gals of the Old Skool Ford Drag Challenge enthusiasts, and keeping the nostalgia element of the weekend alive will be the Wild Bunch with a great line up of old skool dragsters and altered contesting rounds of the Wild Bunch and Real Steel series, their title sponsors. A great line up is promised in this their 15th year in running the Wild Bunch points series.

With just a two week gap in between events the National Association of Supertwins will be running a fully blown points round towards their national championship. So who?s out to get Springspeed winners Andy Watson and Peter Harrison in both Gas and Street ET then?

SCR will be running its popular Sunday Special Street Car Challenge and Trophy Bike Dash along with a full weekend of PTD action. Gates open 6.00pm Friday. Entry is £12 per person or £22 for the weekend. RWYB track fee is £20 for the day or £35 for a weekend of unlimited fun, and don?t forget your driving licence and crash helmet; two very good essentials for the drag strip as you won?t be able to take part without them. See you at the strip! See www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk for further details.
