Here is a picture I snapped recently to show ancient and modern alternatives to the Infernal Combustion Engine! A Foden Sentinel Steam Wagon (with a six cylinder coal fired steam engine) looked in to Buckfastleigh Station whilst on a road run. It is perfectly capable of speeds up to 45 mph and unlimited range as long as it has enough coal and access to a tap now and again. And its just as quiet as a Berlingo Electrique, although I wouldn't mind having its whistle!

Jeepers Richard, the emissions from that truck must be absoloutely lethal, what with all those lumps of coal rattling up and down in those 6 cylinders!!

Convert them to wood burners and steam vehicles could be another possibility.

Get an plug in immersion heater in the boiler so you don't have to get up at silly-o-clock to light the fire and your on to a winner.
