BVS Manchester

Well now, Mary Perkins = Energetic, Enthusiastic, fast thinking, clear minded, knowledgeable on the subject of EVs. You did a good job at the museum Mary. Talk on the radio was good too. Tim also did his bit, or was it more ? he spent most, if not all of his time at the BVS stand. Many folks asked T...

Control

Hi Ed. An economical way to control a DC motor, especially the type Geekygrilli has. A multi point contactor with resistors. If you can chat up a fairground fun ride operator/s who is using the old type controller/s ask them nicely if he/she would let you have a good look of how the device is made. ...

Boat motor

Hi Deddly. A dynamo can be used as a motor, but you may shed loads of tears trying to get any power from them. Now this is far better. I've still got this, somewhere....you're more than welcome to it. Geeky, I have one similar to yours, it is series wound, is the one you have series wound ? If it is...

Numbers !

Rob stated thus- 1] Allowing people to recharge at work means that they can travel double the range to commute. Agreed. (doubling the radius, doubles the area of a circle). So the number of people that this then covers is the square of 2, which is 4. This is gobblydegook, first, doubling the Radius ...

BVS Logo

Well now - I made some alterations to the logo - Altered the shape of the car, to look more like a Hatchback style. Lightened the blue ring - to make the text more visible. Added a tangerine-ish colour to the inner ring. Coloured the car green. Showed it to the recent committee meeting - a 4 year ol...

Electric boat !

Hi Deddly. Mike says that a starter motor may do, I think not, starter motors are NOT designed for continuous running, they are inefficient for any form of traction use. They are designed to pull loads of current from batteries to rotate an ICE rapidly to get it started. As Mike says " Alternat...

Electric Cat

Hi Deddly. Before you spend too much time and money on your project, I would suggest you do some research on battery performance for use in cold application/s. Many batteries cannot function well in the mode you wish to use in cold weather. The Lynch motor is well suited for your application. They a...
