Re: LEAF CHARGER PROJECT

Schooler Although I will probably not void the Leaf warranty please tell all about how to 3 phase charge the Leaf. I assume you attach the mains in Place of the regenerative motor? Chargemaster fitted a 30 Amp single phase charger last week and I noticed the 3phase fuses are 100 Amp so I could fit ...

Re: Do Berlingos require an MOT?

The body type is noted as Van , Panel van, or in the case of my Multispace Van/ Side windows. TAxation class is noted as Electric. Hence a van is a light good vehicle, and Its electric powered, so its exempt. Its really not worth getting worried about. I have had these for over 5 years right now I ...

Re: Morris Minor Conversion

Hi All I am the owner of 1959 ailing Morris Minor. I need to look at replacing the gearbox and rebuilding or upgrading the engine. I decided to look into electrifying the vehicle to see if it is a viable option. Most of my journey's consist of 20 mile round trips. Although I do some 50 - 100 mile t...

Re: LEAF CHARGER PROJECT

Hi Skooler, If your reply was aimed at my last post, it appears Siai47 has got around the need for Chademo protocols/plugs etc by just accessing the battery terminals directly and overriding the main contactor to allow his Brusa access to charge the battery directly. If I understand correctly, this...

Re: LEAF CHARGER PROJECT

3 phase on board charging on a leaf has been done. Relatively easy and happy to share experiences with this if required.

If you want to charge through the Chademo connector then you are essentially just building a chademo rapidcharger - good luck getting hold of the protocol....

Re: Lithium Battery Life

There are some interesting lectures on lithium batteries on Youtube. I watched one on methods of testing that do not require full lifetime cycle testing. Why do Li-ion Batteries die ? and how to improve the situation? by professor Jeff Dahn. One small part of the lecture showed the shortening effec...

Re: Lifepo4 cells . Initial charge or not?

I see no reason for this.

I capacity tested a couple of cells around a year ago. From 2.7-3.5v, then 2.7 to 4.0v, then 2.7 to 3.5v again.

Guess what... same capacity on both the 3.5v tests.

Re: Using a Tesla model S as a donor.

Reading on the internet I was fascinated to read about a guy buying a damaged Tesla S to use the chassis as the basis for his stretched camper-van to be converted to electric. It cost him $40k to buy the car. After buying spares from Tesla for a while they suddenly refused to sell him any more sayi...
