There's a clearer shot of the Cribbs Causeway sign here:

It's painted on the floor, and getting a bit tatty now, after about a year.

Enfield outside No. 10

I borrowed a book from the Uni library the other day, and it shows an Enfield outside number 10 Downing Street. I can just make out the registration: GYP 517 J. It's a black and white photo, so all I can say about the colour of the car is that it's a fairly dark shade. Anybody recognise the number? ...

City-EL manual in English

The big news from Stoke Gifford is that we have received a City-El manual in English! All the way from California, in fact. It's applicable to the Series II cars, because that was the version that was imported to the US, back in the early 1990s. I'm sure Nikki will tell us all about it once she's ha...

Another fault report from the El Weekend '08, Bristol. We returned from testing one of the City-Els, and it failed on the driveway. We didn't hear the "clunk" of the contactors, so we immediately suspected the throttle pedal microswitch. However, that wasn't it. The roof-open microswitch h...

A quick fault report for one of the City-Els that we fixed at the El Weekend '08 in Bristol. This car was a Series III, and therefore had the newer-style relay board. The symptom was that the car would blow fuse F5 as soon as the main switch was turned on. This fuse is in the 12V feed to the instrum...

Photos from El Weekend '08, Bristol

Here are my photos of the goings-on at the El Weekend '08, when we had five City-El electric bubble cars, two of them non-runners: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anachrocomputer/sets/72157603749755316/ We fixed the fault in the first non-runner, which was blowing fuses due to a shorted transient suppr...

Just wondering what state the vehicle was in when you took that log of the serial data. Was it charging? Or discharging (i.e. running)? Or idle? Thing is, I can see some negative numbers there, and that reminds me of Nikki's BMS on the City-El where current is negative or positive according to charg...
