Excellent thread and nice tidy looking conversion. The VOSA and DVLA problems are just one of the things I am worrying about in doing a conversion. Good that you sorted it out. I guess when I get a doner car I will try to get one with MOT and Tax on it before I start work and then do one change at a...

Doesn't surprise me.
If everyone cycled they would charge for cycle parking, if everyone walked there would be a tax on shoes.

If someone invented a machine to produce free energy from nothing they would tax the output. :(

Clarkson was definately right about changing driving styles to save fuel. With my standard Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi estate I have managed to get 84.5mpg on a 35 mile drive one night recently and regularly get 70+mpg on my daily commute of 30 miles each way.

I want a Skoda 120L ! :x [stomps foot!] Seriously, I think it will be a really good vehicle as a donor, see here . They handle better with some weight in the front, I used to have a couple of bags of sand in the front of the ones I used to run so a load of batteries would be good. I would fit...

I was going to suggest the Skoda Estelle and Rapid for exactly the same reasons. I have used and worked on a few and can vouch for their toughness and longevity. They ride better with weight in the front and so a mass of batteries in the front boot would improve things considerably. The problem is f...

The problems could be with the SVA inspection . Also see here. A lot of people doing up Land Rovers are falling foul of it due to a change in engine and gearbox, uprating brakes and suspension or changing the body type like putting a LR90 body onto a Disco chassis. They end up with vehicles that can...

You would only need to add a respectable lap time against their other cars. If it bettered the Stig in their current 'reasonably priced car' then that would show them.

Someone with a fast EV should challenge TG to a lap time around their track. That might be a good way to show what EVs are capable of.

The socket could be as simple as a blue 16A socket fixed to the outside with a length of flex running through a hole in the wall. Inside you would it a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB), also known as a Residual Current Device (RCD), plug to the flex and plug it in when you need it. Only plugg...

I am converting my house into flats, one for me, a granny flat for my folks and two to rent out. I am putting a 'free to tenants' electric charging point in the parking bay in the hope that it will encourage use. The cost of extra electricity usage should be negligable to me compared to the rent and...
