any old iron... (Q for motor pro's)

well not quite any old iron - what I'm actually after is info on any old motor armature / stators of multi layer variety that I could adapt for my needs, before I go to the expense of having stator plates cut. ideally it would need to between 16 and 22 cm diameter with between 30 and 40 teeth for wi...

Interesting, thanks for that.

Does that theory apply to all motors, as in it's the wind configuration that gives the trait? I'm used to smaller motors - Brushless mostly - for RC heli's and aircraft, and have some similar power (relatively low RPM) ones that are about 1/10th the size!

C5 motors

Can someone confirm the rating of the C5 motor for me? Was talking to my Dad at the weekend about the various EV projects I'm considering, when he pulled out a pair of C5 motors and controllers and asked if they were any use. Looking at them it says 12v 29 amp, so 350w, but that sounds surprisingly ...

Cheers.

Certainly wouldn't say the quote I've had so far is reasonable... quite how a single seat 30bhp EV with annual mileage of 1500 per annum can be only a few £'s less than a 200bhp Audi with 15,000 mile per annum and work use included is a bit beyond me.

Thanks qdos, it does seem a bit ridiculous that it's so difficult at the moment! Good luck with your mission.

Cheers, Sure FJ were one of the ones I tried yesterday. Possibly because there is no "original" vehicle.

Insurance

Can someone point me in the direction of an insurer for EV's classed as motorbikes? Trying to find some quotes on a trike, but getting no-where. Only way so far was to tell them I'd replace the handlebars with a wheel, then they would do it!!!

Many thanks :) can't get that link to work, think they must have problems their end as it's timing out, but I guess if there are production bikes that do it then a precedent is set! LOL - on a standard bike I've done in excess of 40mph downhill in the past, my brother (a true cycling nutter) has man...

With the 15mph speed restriction, would it be acceptable to have this as a switchable option? I'd like to convert a bike which I could use for the daily commute (so would need the 15mph thingy) but also for off-road fun (and fun to me doesn't happen at 15mph).
