Re: Which SLA charger - slow or fast?
I find that it is best to charge lead batteries at the rate they can accept current. When mine are low, I start them off at a high rate, ie about 30 amps for the first 40 minutes to an hour, or until the batteries start to fiz. Then I switch to 8 amps for about 3 hours or when they again start to fi...

Re: Laying batteries on their sides
Why can't you stand two side by side and then two on top? They would take up the same space.

On any car knobley tyres will give better traction in the snow, but on an ev they will also cause more friction losses. If you have regenerative braking on an ev, then this will slow you down without using the brakes in the same way as you would slow down in a normal vehicle by changing down the gea...

I have used these batteries, but not from this seller, and they are very good and last a long time, several years. I have not used this ebay seller and am not sure of his credibility as he has an odd way of listing things sometimes whereby you appear not to be able to buy the batteries at the price ...

I did not realise that the Ford yoke was a production option, I thought it was a modification that the owner had done. Whatever, I think it would be an easy option to get a machine shop to alter the shaft to suit, bearing in mind that whatever motor you get, you will have to have a part made to conn...

9" Warp motor
There is a 9" DC Warp motor available on ebay at the moment, the same as I have in my truck. This I think would be ideal for your project, and much better than a fork lift motor. They are as rare as hens teeth in the UK. This I think is a chance not to be missed. The ebay number is 250539409876...

Elecsol batteries
I can't stand by and let you waste your money on Elecsol batteries. For ev use they are complete junk. I bought a set of 10 Elecsol 220 batteries for my truck and although they seemed good at first, performance dropped off very quickly and they were useless after 6 months. Compare this to my present...
