Re: Land's End to John o'Groats EV Challenge
The only reason I even slightly dislike the flywheel idea is........'cos I didn't think of it Brilliant way to recover serious percentage of braking energy expenditure - and...........(I GUESS...........) In a way that offers the possibility a degree of extra stabilising-effect in a single-track veh...

Re: BBC "Mini adventure: how far can an electric car go?"
Liked the revolting clip, the anti's can't complain about clarity
Also quite liked the "Leaftalk" short film from Nissan
Haven't felt this optimistic in a while
Many thanks, Kevin

Optima Yellow Top AGM lead-acid batteries They were well-used, remaining life unknown, so he suggested a low-cost idea worth trying This was a 240v. input, 13.8v.dc output, stable-voltage supply u...

This year I shall have to wait and see
Is it OK to wait, and see if any places remain, close to the day?
Anyone able to commit before I do should have preference

Re: Super capacitors anyone?
Very grateful, Jeremy, for your patience, and that of so many others on this forum
Takes me a while to get me head round these things, such clear, idiot-proof explanations save me lots of headaches
I do try to make progress and remember things, honest

Re: Super capacitors anyone?
Given my limited understanding, please forgive some very basic questions Have I read the figures wrong, or are they far bigger and heavier than batteries for comparable energy stored? Do they quickly self-discharge, or do they store energy for very long in comparison to a battery? Are these for sale...

Re: Nissan Leaf
Has anyone seen any reports of actual use in the real world, long-term pre-production loans/tests ? I'm a mild Nissan fan, with appropriate cynicism, but I think the UK will provide a harsh dose of reality By rough and ready COBA I could almost afford one, subject to some rigid conditions and projec...

Re: Ping Batteries in cold weather
Good point, my Ping BMS flashes varying patterns on the strip of LCDs when the charger is detached I checked this by email with Mr. Ping, who advised me that it was the BMS balancing the cells The first time I charged the pack, this "balancing-phase" took well over an hour before settling ...
