Re: Nissan Leaf

Irritatingly the price seems to have gone up before they must have delivered any. Now £25,990 inc government discount, up 2K.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Looked at one of these at the Sydney motor show and had a brief test ride. Very impressive, better than our small automatic Hyundai Getz hire car! http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg111/granada203028/MievSydney1.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg111/granada203028/MievSterring.jpg http://i24...

Re: New toy.........

That monster CA120-70 looks a nice motor. Reading deeper into your thread you are making a motor form a kit? Isn't one of the reasons for using many parallel threads of thin wire to reduce skin effect losses, so if you use rectangular wire of heavy gauge the copper fill improvement will be offset by...

Re: New toy.........

I have played with a smaller 480 rpm/V unit and it was very impressive. Got quite hot at 500W but not excessively so. The inside out design is very clever giving a large air gap area towards the periphery of the motor envelope, giving high power density with the lowest speed. I guess the inside stat...

Re: Nissan Leaf

Where was the test drive, in the UK for the general public? I'm considering one of these. Expensive for a small car but competitive with a conversion to the same standard. A 24KWh Lion battery would be the best part of £10K alone. The Leaf presumably comes with a full warrantee and usual Japanese qu...

Thundersky look alike LiFePO4 supplier in USA

The US supplier I bought my li poly cells from now offers Thundersky look alike LiFePO4s: http://www.batteryspace.com/lifepo4prismaticmodule32v200ah3crate640whceunapproved.aspx Being in the USA they are easy to deal with but we in the UK of course suffer the exchange rate, shipping and duty.

The Telegraph motoring supplement also discussed the Volt or Ampera as it will be known as in Europe. Confirmed the battery is 16KWh and 400 lbs but did say "the battery only cycles half its capacity to give a 10 year/150,000 mile life". So is 16KWh really half the actual full capacity? Th...
