Electric vehicles on Top Gear this Sunday
I have been involved in filming for the Top Gear Christmas Special, which is being aired on Sunday 23rd December at 8pm on BBC2 and repeated at midnight on Christmas day. There is a feature on electric cars which is going to be aired to eight million petrol-heads. Whilst it wouldn't be Top Gear with...

The new G-Wiz - the G-Wiz i - has got a new front crash safety cell, built in conjunction with Lotus. This has been independently crash tested at 25mph with significantly improved results compared to the old G-Wiz. It is a shame they didn't try crashing it at 35mph though - whilst I accept that the ...

Today, I received this e-mail: Dear Mr. Boxwell, The reason I am contacting you is a project we are currently doing at Frost & Sullivan about Electric Vehicles in London. Frost & Sullivan is a global growth consulting company: we carry out research in many industries including the automotive...

Whatever you do please make sure your Lithium cells can not possibly go over-voltage. Lead acids can quite happily exceed their maximum voltage (within reason) but lithiums tend to go BOOOOOOOOM if you do! ;) I know - its great fun when they do! We fired one off in the car park a few years ago. It ...

That is an old site for Bluebird. Their new site is http://www.BBIG.com - although that is just a holding page at the moment. BBIG (the new name for Bluebird) looks like they'll have some exciting stuff available very soon. They've been busy doing some deals recently. Details in a future edition of ...

I know it would take a long time to charge up, I'm really thinking about it as much for the effect as anything else: keeping the batteries topped up when the car is not in use. I'm also wondering if it would have any benefit during the winter months when battery range is much reduced. I'd guess that...

Wandering through my local Maplin's at lunchtime, I noticed they're selling 12v 12w solar panels at half price - £49 instead of £99. Oooh, thinks I. Me wants. I've got a silly idea of buying four, mounting them to a mini roof rack and fitting them to my G-Wiz. Knowing nothing at all about sola...

The electric Microcar is a bit different, because it is built by someone else rather than Microcar: they licence their vehicle design and there are a few companies around the world that build them. And yes, I can't remember their name at the moment either! :? Obviously not one that trips off the ton...

What a fantastic review, and I'm quite envious of you! If only it was a four seater - or at least a 2+2. With a young family to cart around, a two seater just wouldn't work for me. It might have been justifiable when I was commuting 200 miles a day, but as of Tuesday I move to a village just outside...
