Re: Is a BMS actually necessary on LifePo4 cells.
Hi All Yesterday I was shown a vehicle with loads of Lifepo4 cells and no BMS. Apparently all the cells were bottom balanced on install and then pack charged until the lowest capacity cell reached 3.7v at which point the pack voltage was noted and used as a cut-off value for the charger. Clearly wh...

Re: 200 mile range Leaf anyone?
Oh! My bad, you are right there Rory. Leafs (etc.) have them doubled up inside the cans. The discharge voltage rates across differing cell chemistries need to be visualized. Match a pair of discharge graphs of same capacity and you will see why. :) It's not the discharge curves that matter - Its th...

Re: AXIAM CITY BATTERIES
Thankyou both for replying. Yes the car is lead acid at present. I dont have the money to upgrade to lithium. Lucas LSC85-12v look to be a option. I see some of the members have used them on other vehicles. 85a/h deepcycle and about the right size. Does anyone have any information about them or sim...

Re: AXIAM CITY BATTERIES
Does anyone know where I can get a set of batteries at a reasonable price for A mega city car. Have had the charger replaced but It seems the car needs new batteries too! I reckon i was had with this car but if I can not get some batteries for a reasonable price I will bin the car. Pity though as i...

Re: Battery cooling
Hi All I have been giving some thought to battery cooling. I understand the Leaf uses air cooling as well as heating if temperature were too low. I may be mistaken but I seem to have noticed the battery getting hotter when driving economically at 40 mph than when driving at 70 mph which seems count...

Re: smart electric battery
Hi Rory, I have had the pleasure of working on a factory electric smart before. My advice would be to stay away from the 'OEM' parts and just use typical conversion parts. I found the OEM stuff to be very restrictive and overcomplicated. Tad off topic but I have a complete conversion kit available i...

Re: AVT conversion kits
I have helped others who have purchased their kits and they are far from complete, low quality and quite expensive.
As Grumpyb says, what are you planning on converting?
you'll probably find that you are much better off purchasing individual components

Re: Renault / Nissan LEAF battery modules in UK/EU?
and that is because if they marked them as hazardous goods it would be nigh on impossible to ship them and if they could it would be very expensive indeed. Completely incorrect. I regularly ship lithium batteries (sea and air) to and from the US, EU and China. All I am required to do to meet the Ha...

Re: Best way to get CALB CAxxFI's in the UK ?
I'm looking at getting a dozen CA40fi or CA60fi cells. Does anyone know a better/cheaper way than from the well known depot in Holland ? Anyone interested in a group buy and spreading the costs ? Chris I have been importing Sinopoly cells if that is of interest? I don't have any in stock right now ...
