Re: Help Mega my mega city has gone bang!

Hi Brent Shame I have only just read this as I was over your way ish on Friday and would have happily lent a hand. Does the E-bay car dealer have to offer some sort of minimal guarantee I wonder? In general terms it does sound as if the motor may have failed. I would suggest the purchase of a cheap ...

Is a BMS actually necessary on LifePo4 cells.

Hi All Yesterday I was shown a vehicle with loads of Lifepo4 cells and no BMS. Apparently all the cells were bottom balanced on install and then pack charged until the lowest capacity cell reached 3.7v at which point the pack voltage was noted and used as a cut-off value for the charger. Clearly whi...

Re: 200 mile range Leaf anyone?

Hi All Am I right in assuming that it may be appropriate to have a slightly different number of Life po4 cells than leaf cells to achieve an optimum compromise match? The voltages of the two packs will automatically match at all times. The higher total circuit resistance of each pack will determine ...

Re: 200 mile range Leaf anyone?

Beemer For the benefit of those like me who are not quite up to speed, would you be kind enough to expand your info. SOC % Leaf V LifePo4 V 100 4.1 3.5 50 2 I am not sure which you are calling the fitted pack? A half pack of Leaf cells would have half voltage unless the cans are opened I think. Rory

Re: 200 mile range Leaf anyone?

The method that I am intending to try is having a second pack with contactor and BMS, no data linkup. The only parts I am needing are a pair of battery connectors to make a T-piece. And a contactor. In my view the packs will not share load current equally, particularly as I will be using different b...

Re: 200 mile range Leaf anyone?

Apologies for bumping my own thread. I had the privilege of discussing this with Peter yesterday. It seems that merely adding battery capacity would be unlikely to work because the Leaf probably assesses the state of charge by counting used power and might simply refuse to use the extra capacity. Th...

Re: Anyone know anything about the Smart Electric?

Have now purchased a 2013 smart for the conversion. As it was a Cat C write off the first thing I need to do is repair the car. Yesterday I went back to the breaker for the wheels, stalks and the front chassis leg which has been bent on mine. Today trucks seem to have been arriving all day with vari...

Re: Free home charging connection?

I went for a 32 amp menekees socket from british gas which cost a bit extra. This is for my Leaf and I need the lead anyway for charging at shopping malls etc. I will need a menekees to menekees lead when I get the Smart built as it has that type of socket. Getting a J1772 captive lead would have be...

Re: Sighting of BYD E6 at Pease Pottage Services

Yes this is a thriev vehicle presumably about to pick up from Gatwick when charge completed. Not sure how much charge power it can take from the three phase lead.

Do you know how to contact the BYD, cannot find out on the internet?

Axiam Mega electric

Discussing with the seller of rolling car on Ebay, he says he has the gearbox and clutch available. Does electric still have a clutch? Rory PS. Now finally got some sense out of the seller, it just has a fixed ratio and final drive as you would expect. He wants as much for the gearbox as for the car...
