350 deg F is around 177deg C which is seriously hot, even with your ambient temperature of around 27 deg C, which isn't far off our UK Summer temperature. It's quite likely that a decent fan directed into the motor cooling vents (in the right direction, so that it aids the motor fan) will bring the ...

I'd be interested in the rules too, especially if they are prepared to be pragmatic when it comes to "cottage" teams in the Open class. Full ACU/FIM compliance for both rider and bike will no doubt put off quite a few one-off amateur teams. I'd love to have a go at this, but just getting a...

You can download the Alltrax manual from their website, here: http://www.alltraxinc.com/ . These controllers are programmable from a PC, using a serial cable and the Controller Pro software that can also be downloaded from the Alltrax web site. There are a multitude of configuration settings, coveri...

If the cells are lithium technology (which seems highly likely) then they will have a terminal voltage of either 3.2V (for LiFePO4) or 3.7V (for LiCoO2 or LiMnO4), rather than the 2V that is typical for lead acid batteries. It is this higher terminal voltage that is largely responsible for the great...

I ran the Clan in the South West sprint and hill climb series for a couple of years, prior to that I raced a Mini for a while. The Clan was run in the road car class, which meant keeping it road legal and driving to and from each event (no trailering allowed). The engine was a Hartwell 998, running ...

I think what you're aiming for is feasible, but batteries are the main issue. There is only one type of LiFePO4 cell around that will give you the very high maximum discharge rating you need, A123. The snags are that the cells are small, so you need lots of them, plus A123 won't cell individual cell...

Ahhh, nice to see you're here as well Jozzer! You got off lightly with the DVLA, I think. It seems to be entirely down to pot luck as to whether or not you get put through the mill. If you hit lucky, and get someone with more than one working brain cell then you seem to stand a reasonable chance of ...

I've not seen the film, but did once go out with a girl who lived next door to where Terry Gilliam was staying back in the late sixties/early seventies, does that count? A colleague recently visited DVLA in Swansea to look at their customer management system. They are very proud of the fact that the...

Very neat. A bike like that has the big advantage of lots of space for batteries without worrying about making up neat looking boxes for them. A chap in Brighton (Steve, or Jozzer on some of the other EV related forums) has done a neat job on an Aprilia 125, which has similar advantages to your Gile...

I'd be happy to scribble something once it's a bit more complete. Tonight's exercise was completely rearranging the batteries, as the original plan just looked too ugly! One snag with doing a small bike is the lack of space to put cells. It's the reason I opted for the cylindrical Headway cells rath...
