Re: daed lead acid battery

Have you tried looking on ebay for suitable alternative batteries to use. I am still running my truck on second hand lead gel batteries that I bought 7 years ago on ebay for just £11 per 12 volt battery.
It is worth a look before you get rid of your Buddy.

Electric vehicle charge points on the Roman Wall

The Hexham Courant local newspaper carries details of two electric vehicle public charging points which have been installed this week at the Once Brewed visitor centre on Hadrian's wall in rural Northumberland. They are described as being miles from the nearest homes and are to demonstrate that even...

Re: Tractor from scrap yard finds.

You sound as though you have the same attitude to building as me. I started building my trike because I could not resist buying a brand new Advanced DC motor on Ebay for £80 which I new normally costs £400. It is 6 HP so not big enough for a car, so I dicided on a two wheels at the front trike like ...

Re: ADAM SMITH COLLEGE >>>EV

I have to express some concern at advice to use either milk float or fork lift motors for electric car conversions. I know a few people have built small cars with fork lift motors which just about get bye, but these motors are in no way the best option for an electric car. The main reason they tend ...

Re: Do I need cyclic batteries?

My head is getting sore from banging it against a brick wall! Item no 220593094415 on ebay. I have been running a set similar to these on my 45 mph slow milk float for the last 7 years doing 3000 miles per year, and they are still going strong. I paid £11.00 per 12 volt battery for mine. They are te...

Re: Carbon fibre AGM batteries!

Like Peter and Chris, I too had a set of Elecsol batteries about 10 years ago. I had the big 220 items. At the time they were new technology, but they turned out to be a load of what Peter said. Why risk the same thing happening again until they have been proven, when you know there are better alter...

Re: Which SLA charger - slow or fast?

I still say you do not have to buy expensive batteries. I have posted this before, but I paid £11 per 100 amp/hr 12 volt battery for my truck. I do about 3000 miles per year and these batteries are still going strong after 7 years. These are Ex British Telecom lead gel backup batteries. There are sti...

Re: how to improve my range???

Get a multimeter and test the voltage of each individual battery immediately after a run. There may be just one battery which drops as low as 8 volts if it is on the way out, which pulls the whole pack voltage down.

What did you do as regards insurance? I was just wondering how easy it is to get insurance on a scratch built electric trike, as I am following you down that road.
