Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Peter,

Thanks... that was the issue. I had "FailSafeV" set to 340. It must have been right on the edge such that a slightly longer sense wire would make it trigger. I reduced it down to 320 and everything is working correctly now.

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Peter, I have an issue that has stumped me and wanted to see if you have ever seen anything like this. I am running V28 of the slave software. I have the CutInVD set to 365 and the CutOutVD set to 360 on both the master and slave software. Here is the issue. Cells 1 thru 16 turn on the bypass resist...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Peter, Just wanted to point out a small issue on the latest version of the master. Line 5 of your header says to use the internal PM compiler not MPASM. On page 5 where you set you configuration bits it says "below used with MPASM Assembler". You had previously mentioned that you are only ...

Re: 16 Cell Multi Slave Board

Were you considering using the 12F1822 since it has an internal voltage regulator. We should then be able to eliminate one component. This chip also has the ability for ICSP to be accomplished with either 5v or 12 volts depending on a setting. I was thinking we could use jumpers for the traces to th...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Peter, I had lunch today with a friend that is also using PBP on some of his projects (nothing related to BMS). He recently had to talk with someone at MicroEngineering and they informed him that since MicroChip is coming out with new chips so fast they are going to drop their assembler (PM) in the ...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Peter,

On the master ver 2.0 board you have several locations for varistors. Do you have any specifics on the particular varistors that you used?

Thanks...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Peter,

I agree, the 12F683 has plenty of capability. It looks like ver 2.60A covers the 12F1822.

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

I just recently ran across a possible replacement PIC chip for the slaves. It is the 12F1822. What is nice is that it has an onboard fixed voltage reference which should simplify the circuit a little. I also heard that you only need two wires for ICSP but I haven't verified that yet. Here is the lin...

Re: Remote Display Board Version 1

I verified all of the ground and 5 volt connections to the receiver and they all check good. I put a scope on pin 14 (data out) and didn't get anything. What is the purpose of D2 and what does it mean "required for pin 3 use"?

Re: Remote Display Board Version 1

Peter, Here is the transmitter code: TxdData: ;Sends 18 bytes of data to remote display and/or PC Logger ;Txd sends 5 byte preamble to lock with Rxd, then qualifier "bms" ;followed by 9 bytes of data peek Temp1Data, b2 ;Read Front Pack Temp from Temp1Data Ram Byte (Note 0-100C Max) peek Te...
