Re: resistor size for bypass circuit ?

Yes I totally plan on monitoring each individual battery voltage. I have designed and tested some analog HCNR200 optoisolators into a circuit that can portray an analog range of voltages to the microcontroller depending on the voltage of each cell. The only thing I am concerned with is whether it wi...

Re: resistor size for bypass circuit ?

So I have a lot more questions and concerns because the internet doesn't cover any of this stuff with any justice and obviously most people with designs keep them private. This forum is mint. GregsGarage – You are saying that I should completely take the batteries out of the pack and charge them in ...

Re: resistor size for bypass circuit ?

Yeah we have a BMS controlling when the bypass resistor turns on. We are reading each individual battery voltage to a microcontroller and then we are going to send a signal to turn on an electromechanical relay (with a resistor) to bypass the battery cell depending on the voltage upon charge. Anyway...

resistor size for bypass circuit ?

Hello, On charging, I'm trying to bypass 40Ah Lithium Polymer batteries with rated internal resistance of less than or equal to 2.5 milli ohms. What would be a good resistance value to bypass these batteries with in order to balance the cells upon charge??? Also, what should its wattage rating be? I...

Re:

Been testing the slaves some more, in groups of 4 cells, charging with a lead acid charger and finishing with my dc power supply as the charger doesn't quite get there with the voltage. These cells were already charged but out of balance. The first set I charged one of the cells was very badly out ...

HELP - designing BMS for HEV using 40Ah batteries

Hello to those interested in helping me, I am an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student at Lakehead University. We are designing a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (crappy website link: http://hybrid.lakeheadu.ca/webcam.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I stumbled upon the batter...
