Re: BMS Design
The pic has a wide operating voltage from 2-5.5v so covers virtually all the various types of Li-Ion chemistry. Last night I was starting to read through the Picaxe manual and it stated a operating voltage of 3-5.5v and min 4.5 volts for programming the chip. If this is the case that could be a pro...

Found this on another group. New product from maxim. http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm/qv_pk/5523 Look at page 16 of this pdf, unfortunately at the bottom it says "future product - not yet available" http://www.maxim-ic.com/design_guides/en/AUTOMOTIVE_4.pdf Interesting to see if some...

Great idea Peter. As I mentioned before I have 2 BMS boards coming from ebay seller PingBattery. Might even see them today as they have cleared customs :D I haven't decided how I am going to adapt them yet but they have a control chip on them that might be able to be replaced with a picaxe-14M. I wi...

I take it that the group buy didn't work out. :( For my BMS I have ordered 2x 36v BMS boards from ebay seller Ping Battery (look for duct tape packs on this forum). His cells are the same chemistry and voltage of these cells. The boards will have to be modified as they are designed for e-bikes but s...

There isn't a minimum C rate as such, it will depend on the ah capacity of your pack. The ah capacity required will be determined by the range you require. For example lets say that a 100ah pack would give you 25 miles range ( note: I am just making up numbers to illustrate a point. I will leave vol...

The link has been on the electric and hybrid cars website for quite some time with a message that it was temporarly unavailible and they were working on it. When I checked it last week it was working so I assume permission has been granted. Google video is hosting it so if there is a problem I am su...

Yes they are LFP. The fully charged voltage is 3.65 volts, so 4*3.65=14.6 volts (nominal voltage 3.2). This is almost exactly the final voltage of of AGM/Gell cell batteries. The thundersky fully charged voltage is much higher at 4.25v and my controller can only handle 90 volts so I would either hav...

The info on the Hipower site is completely different than the actual spec sheets I have seen. I suspect that the website is put together by the marketing department who haven't actually talked to the engineers about what they actually have for sale! The 200ah are 5kg according to the specs. Th...
