Re: Old BMS Software Thread

These are my config settings; I may have reassigned some pins from the original PBP code so they may not be totally correct but at least you might avoid some of the "trial-and-error" I had to go through. I was intending to fit a ceramic resonator at some point hence the "#if" but...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

I'm using the PIC18F2680 as a drop-in replacement and managed to sort out the config - it's in C but I could let you have the settings if it helps?

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

I'm using two and the code is structured to interrogate them alternately, I think it would need to be restructured slightly to only use one. If you've got a second sensor and can find a use for it, why not use two?

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

The ones I use are DS18B20+ so you do have the correct parts. There are 5 lines in the PBP code that need the serial number "plugging in", one a few lines down from Start: 'Manual I2C Temp Sensor initiate routine avoids start up temperature errors owout DigitalTemp,1,[$55,$28,$B9,$11,$16,$...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Looks to me like the baud rate to the video chip is getting changed somehow, it seems to be trying to update once a second.

A thought that did occur to me was whether some other component(s) got damaged when you inserted the EEPROM the wrong way round?

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

It sounds like something's drawing a lot of current on your master board, the regulator on mine never gets too hot to touch - the only time I have had a problem with a regulator was the 7806 I use on a daughter board to power the pocket TV I use as a monitor, it draws a lot more than I expected and ...

Re: Duff/weak cell?

Interesting. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll need to take the pack out again after all. My charge completed to 87.5V tonight without that cell "running away" like it used to, and it doesn't seem to be dipping as badly as it used to either. Cells becoming "conditioned" or just a r...

Re: Duff/weak cell?

Must admit I hadn't thought about not charging below a certain temp either - something else to check :) It appears that Headways are 0-45° - guess I need to allow some "headroom" for the high temperature as my temp sensor is in the centre of the pack, so may not pick up a cell heating up t...

Re: Duff/weak cell?

I see what you mean, just because the pack temperature hasn't got very hot, doesn't mean it's not going to at some point  Now I've got loads of space in the PIC18F2680 I'll put some code in to cut the charge if the temperature gets too high (what would be considered "too high"?). As ...

Re: Duff/weak cell?

It doesn't actively check the temperature, merely display it. To be honest I've never seen it higher than about 27° so I haven't been too worried. Unless that's considered high? I'm only charging at about 5A during bulk charge before switching to low current for the balancing phase at which time the...
