Different charger weirdness

I have a 120V Zivan charger and 10 Odyssey gel lead acid batteries (all new). I was told to check and adjust the voltage pot to make sure it was right. On profile D it is supposed to peak at 148Volts and float at 135, which lines up with the battery specs, so in an ideal world it would be fine strai...

Electrosol lead acid batteries

Anyone have any experience of electrosol batteries? I'm looking for 10 batteries of around 70ah and I'm a bit tight on weight. Their battery is only 16kg & £79 and it has a 5 year guarantee and a claimed life of 1000 cycles. What's the catch? :? They claim to be suitable for electric vehicles...

what I meant was that in a few years time batteries may well be much lighter or bigger capacity or longer lasting or replaced by regenerative hydrogen fuel cells (as currently used in some military applications). In a home brew you have more chance of upgrading than in a tidier off the shelf vehicle...

Lynch motor too slow

Been there. It will fit, and with 2 of them 22kw is more than the petrol engine, but runs out of revs too soon. I'm reluctant to build a new gearbox between the motor and the trabi box to increase the overall ratio. AVT have a rumour of a series motor that will fit, but can't get a drawing to prove ...

Electricar Baggage truck

the guy I bought my Trabant off has a 1990 electricar airport truck. It has an unladen weight of 1 ton, with a payload of 1.25 tonnes, it's 48V. comes with chargers etc. It's been standing for a while, so it's 393 kg of batteries are probably less than well. It's going for scrap in the not too dista...

I'm probably about to break the record for the shortest time someone's been in the BVS before being chucked out.. Depending on where you live, it sounds to me that the best solution to your vehicle needs is a diesel running on home made biodiesel. You remove your dependence on big oil, save money an...

if the car is really usefull, so it get used most days, it's worth spending reasonable money on, if it's a toy then the budget is much smaller. My wife and I could do all our regular weekly motoring with a small 4 seater with a decent boot, a top speed of 70mph and a range of 20miles. No one sells o...

Trying to find a motor

I'm trying to build a 70mph electric Trabant....?! I'm looking for a motor giving 27kw (Peak for 2 mins) at 4800 rpm, but small enough to fit in a space 333mm long by 256mm diameter. Anyone got any suggestions?
Hope to have the car in 2 stroke mode at the Bristol meet this sunday.
thanks

Martin
