I have to say that I would be very interested to see what sort of real world range you do get on a single charge - but have to admit that doing a single drive to see what it is would not be that exciting with such a large battery pack !!!!!

Errata, bad English, made clear.

If you don't see how it runs on the full pack I'm not sure anyone here will forgive you.

Van is charging!!!!

I fitted a mains relay in the HiPower BC3 charger operated by a 12v signal from the Guantuo BMS to cut off at my trigger voltage (set at 3.45v for testing. 3.85v when I'm confident and need a full pack.) It hasn't got there yet, so I am waiting to test my relay.

All very exciting! It's charging with 9A output, about 2kW input (I will attach my power meter soon to check.)

The BMS is powered by a 12v SwitchMode pwer supply from RS (like a laptop charger) so I don't need the ignition on while charging. This is what Russ Sciville did in his Elise - I have copied his whole BMS set-up. I tapped the 12v relay feed from the same supply.

On a charge at last !!!!. I hope that you notice that the batteries behave better after having a charge. I notice that if I dont charge my pack over night the following day the pack voltage is a bit softer under load.

What make are your batteries? Are they Thundersky?

Thanks Matt, and Andy.

My cells are HiPower 200Ah prismatic, rated at C/3=66Amp continuous. I have 3 in parallel so I can draw 200Amps without worry, and charge at that speed too if I get a charger and supply big enough.

Slowly slow.

Are you still on charge??? Did giving the pack make any change the the voltage under load at all?

I haven't reached cut-off yet. I unplugged it at 11pm last night- don't want it overcharging if my relay fails, so I need to be awake for its first cut-off.

The pack seems to balance itself nicely. The biggest delta was 3.25-3.33 as the first cells came up, but then the high ones held at 3.33V while the slower ones caught up, and my 3.340V warning tone never sounded after 12 hours of charging! Still to be tested.
