The plug used the extra pins to act as a pilot and if you unplugged the van end of the cable, you broke the circuit and the main contactor in the wall outlet turned off the power. Neat but unusual.

I now have the remains of the EV parts and the reason the vehicle was dead was a duff cell in the pack.
The owner is going to morph the remains of a diesel back into it. It was in a vrtually pristine condition.

Are the rest of the cells useable? What specs are they please?

We're looking to revive an old project and convert it to Lithium, as cheaply as possible.

What we basically have is a glorified Golf-buggy that's presently fitted with six 100Ah AGM Lead Acid batteries. They're heavy and knackered. Pack voltage is about 72. I'd like to upgrade the pack to Lithium, and would need to update the charger too, plus enable it for the public network.

I do have new Thundersky 160ah cells at £120+vate each.
contact using sales@ev-support.co.uk if you are at all interested.

I just found this on Martin Winlow's shop site:

My understanding is that only some of these conversions have both single phase charging AND three phase charging...

Maybe this explains the unusual plug.

Tim, am i right in thinking this will allow a suitable Allied to use the public network? Including AC rapids? If so, that solves one of the major challenges I've had with mine. Our eMonarch has single plus 3-phase charging but we restrict it to local trips because it can't be plugged in off-site. We mainly use domestic 13A overnight, but have external 3-phase Commando's at two campuses either end of the city.

I suppied a type two to 3phase cable for a chap who drove his Boxer from scotland down to Cornwall. He wanted Type 2 3ph to speed his journey, but its not that common a feature of public charge points. He actually found more sites , like farm shops with std 3 ph than public charge points. On the Allieds with the Dual 1 and 3ph charger. To run on single phase theAallied adaptor needs a second cable to swap over the cabling internally as you cant just plug into a normal type 2 and use the single phase connections, as the allied isnt wired in that way, it does not use the neutral ine at all. I make these to order. The normal boxer has a 64a three ph connector.
Im actually in the process of installing a dual 1 /3 phase charger into an originally 3ph only Expert. It will make it a much more usable vehicle.
The particular vehicle that started this thread, had a very oddball special version that used a 7 way connector, and used a couple of the lines to act as a break in the supply / pilot if the vehicle was unplugged, and it broke off the contactor low voltage feed in the wall supply box. This ensured the outlet at the end of the cable was not live if the vehicle was just disconnected.

I think ours is a bot of an oddball. We can charge off 120v commando too. The adaptor that came with it is 3-pin plug to Blue Commando to 3-phase end at the vehicle. The other lead is 3 phase at both ends.

Thats certainly not the Allied EDN charger, it wont do below 207v on single phase. ANd they were staggeringly expensive so I doubt anything like that is in yours.
What is the charger in your Buggy? Send me some pics.
