Converted commercial vehicle MOT exempt?

Postby willfromsussex » Sun Mar 06, 2016 11:21 pm

I know that electric goods vehicles don't require an MOT test but what about if i convert an ICE van or pickup, of course DVLA will change the fuel type and taxation class but will they change the requirement for it to have to be MOTd? I am guessing one wouldn't be able to tax it if they didn't adjust something to enable that to occur without it being MOTd. Thanks.

If getting the Tax online, and the vehicle has had an mot previously, then the online system will require you to have a valid mot. Regardless of the legal position. You may be able to do something different through a post office. If its a light goods vehicle and conforms to the construction and use requirements, then you should not have to have an MOT. Try contacting DVLA
