Zapi H2B regenerative controller for series motor

Do you own or use a EV. Then this is a good place to discuss things.

Zapi H2B regenerative controller for series motor

Postby Rory166 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 10:02 am

Just downloaded the manual for the controller on my Astra. It seems there is no second pot connection available to control the braking. It is possible to have the throttle pot also influence the braking if programmed in. I do not have a programmer console. There is a speed control mode where a reference signal is compared with motor speed and acceleration or braking applied to adjust the motor speed. I was thinking that reference input could be used as the throttle leaving the other pot connection for braking. This would provide single pedal type operation and cruise control would be an easy addition.

At present I am not convinced that the regen is working at all.
