Electric Motorsport - Hillclimbing and Sprinting

I thought some of you may be interested in the conversations ongoing at Uphill Racers about using electric power in hillclimbs and sprints, where cars compete over distances of no more than 3 miles. It's the ideal application of an EV in motorsport, I think.

Did you see the Race of Champions last month? They had some Tesla Roadsters on track. The crowd were puzzled to start with by the lack of noise after the wailing V8s that preceded them, but I think they were won over in the end. The lack of noise from EVs is both a blessing and a curse for motorsport - the noise of proper petrol-powered racing cars is intoxicating but the noise is what brings us all these issues with neighbours who move into a house next to a race track and complain it's noisy.
