Alloy wheels , fit or not to fit

Do you own or use a EV. Then this is a good place to discuss things.

I have the peugeot 205 gti 1.6 allys on my Blingo. They look great but are not lighter than std steel. There are two versions, the french SMR ones which I have and some italian Speedline ones which are supposed to be significantly lighter and with a thinner rim are sought by racers as you can use bigger brakes on a 206 without going up a rim size.
They are 5.5j x14 and the 205 bolts work just fine . Offset is correct .
My steel wheels were well bent so these are a nice alternative. Iv now got a second set to go on the Multispace thats in construction.
Its surprising how many of the std alloys are not lighter but they are robust hence the weight. Light weight would mean more prone to damage.
With regard to momentum etc the bulk of a wheels momentum once rolling is in the tyres which owing to th greater radius would have more impack on the energy they have in them. Un sprung weight is only an issue if you wish to have fast acting suspension, not really an issue with a battery vehicle.
