Here's another pic of our much loved Cedric Lynch tending to the Agni race bike (placed third in the main event, behind Alessandro Brannetti and his team mate Alex Battistini from CRP Italy).
Arc EV won the 7.5kw class race, Richie Welsh riding with flair!

Munch racing suffered a major battery failure just before qualifying and lost the bike to a very hot fire. Nobody was hurt though, and much will be learned by the incident I hope.

Can't find any details on the Team Munch fire. Shame, it looked like a well engineered bike

Can imagine the scenario though. Hard charging before the race so everything is toasty hot. Especially the BMS. Then nail it nice and hard on discharge before anything can cool down.

Temperature is everything.

The bike went up on the start line (or just before it), no hard charging or discharging, reckon it was a battery short in the box. Hopefully Munch will be back at the track very soon, they have 2 other bikes just waiting battery packs..

If it was a short, then that constitutes a hard discharge.
The trouble with these fires is determining the cause of it afterwards.

Did this Münch bike have a BMS of any sort fitted?

I would hope it had something fitted, lot of bike to risk it on not having anything fitted.

Been sizing up my cells this week. Should start on battery box construction soon. Had a friend visit the other night, showed him my tank etc, looks like we are gonna be making a replacement one out of carbon fibre! That should reduce the weight. Chassis will be put back together once I have confirmed what bearings I need to replace, which is gonna be all of them. Got to build a new subframe for my new seat, not much of a drama. Once the chassis is rebuilt I will be able to mock the motor mounts up.

A lot of what bike, Tony? Methinks oily rag for a fire guard.

Obviously, a fire started and any BMS if fitted only helped to add to the fire.
It never texted a fault? "HELP! Untangle me, I'm dying!". Sorry, lol

I've read a couple of bikes use a BMS to regulate the charge(?) but its removed for the race. Agni and Campus if I remember correctly.

I've been a biker all my life but am seriously considering making something like this:

Read on in there, its now a four wheeler but still classed as a trike due the two rear wheels being within one metre apart. I think to better the handling/grip. This form factor can carry a lot more cells and have lower air and rolling resistance - more miles per charge.
