EVT168

Postby cianof » Tue Jul 01, 2008 12:04 am

I received delivery of an 2005 EVT168. It's fairly weather beaten, it has cracked panels, it has rust on the chrome and its batteries could do with replacement. On the upside, the bike cost me just 100 euros.

The plan is to learn about electric scooters and have a bit of fun getting the bike cleaned up and back to good working order.

Looks yummy! What are it's vital statistics?
34 Watt Hours per mile, or > 700 MPG. What, me, smug?

Looks very similar to a bike I have too though my bodywork is a tad different.

At the price I'd say you got a bargain to play with I paid a fair amount more than that though mine's mint

The EVT168 is the same bike as the EVT 4000e. It think its just the covering that is different. The covering seems to be sprayed plastics.

Heres some pictures of the bikes frame. There's a bit of rust that has set in. Doesn't seem to be too bad.

In this photo you can see the battery box is quite rusted at the bottom. Seems to have been caused by dirt and water thrown up from the road. The 60 volt mod that I've seen involve placing another battery in the foot space.

The EVT is now back together. It won't be entering any beauty contests any time soon but it drives quite nicely. The front axle, which was bent and has now been replaced. Haven't got a chance to check the range yet. The maximum speed seems to be around 30 mph.

Hey Terry,

Have only got the moped back together after removing the rust, painting the body, cleaning the motor and fixing the bent front axel.

The next step is to replace the batteries. The current batteries only seem to get 20kms on a charge. The cost of replacing the batteries is quite high. 110 euros per battery, total cost 440 euros.

The manual of the EVT isn't that detailed but there is a lot of information available online. I am not familar with the EVT150.
