Further updates to follow, next test session is 27/28th July.

Presently up to about 45mph, now experimenting with chain/sprocket drive rather than belt/pully.

Also looking at more suitable batteries.

To get up the hill, the maximum estimated run time will be no more than 60 seconds , so we are looking for high discharge batteries. Present thinking is for large car batteries, maybe something that is used for starting up diesel engines or something similar. The hill is approx 235 feet, but is set in three sections. First is 1:8, followed by 1:5 then goes to 1:4 . It is really difficult to walk up it, let alone power a c5 :shock:

It will be running 24v , but as mentioned above, needs lots of power in a small space of time. There is sufficient space in the footwells either side to carry some quite large batteries.

The main restraints are, as always, cost and weight otherwise we could have gone for something fancy like Li-ion etc.

We have been using two of these, but found them too heavy - and they dont have a high enough discharge rate;
