Parallel and Series

Postby geekygrilli » Sat Jul 21, 2007 11:22 am

Please ask me to leave the forum if this is a completely stupid question, but....

Is it possible to wire up 2 batteries in series and parallel at the same time using an arrangement of diodes?

Errr not quite sure what your plan is with this one :?

You can wire up banks of batteries which are paralleled up and then in series without any diodes.

Whats the plan as I'm having problems trying to work out what your aim is.

You can ask any question on the forum dosnt matter how silly you might feel it could be.

Don't really know, my brother was talking to me about it.

Say i had 2 x 12v 26Ah batteries, connect in parallel I get 12v 52Ah, connect in series I get 24v 26Ah, but can they be connected in series and parallel at the same time using a set of diodes, so they don't short out?

I think they can't, cos then I'd have 24v 52Ah.

I've confused myself.

Its for a mobility scooter being converted to a buggy for my little nephew.

Oh I see

Well you couldnt connect them up literally at the same time but through a change over switch you could.

I presume your trying to set up a limited speed/power type thingy
