Lithium Ion Kit for City El

Postby aminorjourney » Thu Jan 03, 2008 8:26 pm

Out of interest, would anyone here be interested in a City El Lithium Ion upgrade Kit?

I'm currently talking with a supplier of Thundersky to try and work out the ideal City El upgrade kit for Lithium Ion with 43V, 100AH cells, a new charger and BMS.

Cost would be the prohibitive part for many, but I would estimate a very rough ball-park figure of £2,200 ish for charger, batteries, BMS and cells. We'd then have to plan some slots for people to fit them in their Els. We'd also have to sort out battery insulation and appropriate clamps too (-but that's fairly cheap)

I'm not trying to rain on the parade of LifeBatt either - free market et all :) There are a number of options for batteries for the El, and having used my pack I'm happy with them and the performance/range increases I've had.

Excellent :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the LiPo batteries at the weekend! Is is something we can just put into a car to see what happens?

Hi Nikki,

That was my hope but unfortunately the new tooling for the 12V, 36V, and 48V 'modules' will not be ready in time, so I will only have single cells :(
