Previously the membership year ran from a fixed date. This was appropriate at the time as there was not the wide spread use of on-line payment and email communication.
A rolling membership (where the renewal comes up at the anniversary) of their joining gives the following advantages
__a) Members pay for a full year rather than for a partial year.
__b) A steady income for the society distributed throughout the year make it easier to track income
__c) Distributed workload throughout the year for the chairman to follow up with non-renewals
__d) Minimised workload for membership secretary as it is not then necessary to always send back issues.
The committee have approved the transition to a rolling membership year and therefore new and rejoining member's membership will now be handled in this way.
