Anyone installed a public charging point

Postby arsharpe » Tue May 29, 2007 3:39 pm

Hi,

I am trying to get my company (Motorola) to install normal 13A charging stations as a minimum (ideally high power outlets for public use).

Installation costs will be needed as part of the business case. Does anyone have any idea how much this is likely to cost or have completed a similar project ?

Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob

I've sent you an email about this - when I'm back in Bristol perhaps we can have a chat about what happened here in Bristol with our charging stations! :)

I'd be interested too as the company I'm working for (until 2011) make far too much much money, are always claiming to do loads for the locals (they actually do), insist they're interested in the environment and have lots of property in the centre of Edinburgh. I know enough of the senior management who have some clout to "make it happen"

Floyster,

Have you talked to George Glaister yet? He's the currrent BVS "go-to" guy for Scotland. I think he's trying to oraganise a meet at some point :)

When I get back I'll try and sit down and write a breif description of how BEVOB got the EV charge points at Cribbs Installed :)

Never heard of him. Where is he based? Do you know if he reads the forum?

Thanks,

I used to be down your way a couple of times a week. I must try and arrange a skive so I can meet some of you guys. I can usually arrange some work at Broad St in the city centre. I have a couple of racing buddies in Cirencester too if that's nearer your way.

Cool! That'd be grand. :)

Kate works in the centre of Bristol. Perhaps you could coordinate it with one of our meets!

Nikki.

P.S. Although the Motorshow at Cribbs Causeway on 12-15 July would be another good oportunity since it goes on until 8 in the evening!

Started the ball rolling today :)

Still don't have a clue how to go about it or if it'll be seriously looked into (although I've asked to be involved) but nothing happens quickly here

Not yet. But I will contact him at some point.

We have offices in London and Bristol, in fact most cities in the UK but thought the south/London would be a good place to start since the guys I need to speak to are there and there's probably a higher number of EV owners than up here.

Nor would I but here's something I came across today which might be of help to you and your company relating to grants which are available for setting up recharging points.
:D Funding for alternative refuelling stations and electric recharging points :D
