I think you're doing the North-East down. Tesla had a well attended meeting in Leeds a year ago, and MalcolmB returned the invitation in Newcastle in the spring. I'm sorry you were unable to attend either. Maybe it's time for another meet to be organised, and see who comes out of the woodwork.

As Tim said, there have been gatherings in Leeds and Newcastle in the past, and I hope there will be again. I am sure you would find a few people willing to come visit

In addition, you are very welcome at any of our local North-West meets. According to my routeplanner thingy you're only an hour and a half away from us in Cheshire. Come along to our gathering on 31st January if you wish, to watch 'Who Killed The Electric Car' and do a bit of socialising - see http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1663. If 3 hours driving in one day is too much, we can provide you with crash-space if you wanted to stay overnight on the Saturday night.
