Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Look at the master bus with the logic analyzer. Compare the data being sent on the master to what you are getting on the display. Slave bus can be checked by sending command 7.

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Just think of a logic analyzer as a simple scope with no voltage scale to adjust and the time scale is adjusted by sample rate. It will decode the bits and give you a display of the data and also allow you to see the timings between signals being sent. Just watch when connecting to slave busses, all...

Re: Help Needed with Mobility Scooter Batteries

That all sounds reasonable, I think the gel would be a better choice. Let us know how you get on.

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.

Not a bad idea, but isnt there some kind of round plug that could be used instead? Just because its much easier to drill a hole into a battery box. I'm open to suggestions, but haven't found anything I like. But thinking outside of the box I am leaning towards using a case big enough to house the p...

Re: EV Fires

Any battery chemistry, including lead acid, can be involved in an EV fire. I wouldn't worry about what type of chemistry it was, instead try and understand all possible scenarios that could have occurred and then work out how to prevent those from happening to you. Nearly all EV fires are during una...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

I just "finished" the car. Failed MOT. Why? Because the power steering was "inadequately" modified. I bippassed the rack to work as a manual, how serious that is  My car is fully covered underneath for aerodynamics. Keeps the MOT man from looking too closely.

Re: Help Needed with Mobility Scooter Batteries

Haze USA site has lots more info on it. The HAZE EV & Solar Cyclic Charging.pdf can be found here; http://www.hazebatteryusa.com/s.nl/sc.15/.f From the document Soft Start – Following a deep discharge applying the full current immediately may damage the battery and cause overheating, the applica...

Re: Help Needed with Mobility Scooter Batteries

I have tried to measure the current but think I have failed miserably. I only have a cheap multimeter with a 10 Amp range. On this range the scooter seems to use about 14 Amps on the flat and 17 Amps on the hill. Not sure how reliable this is given its a 10 Amp meter. I wouldn't trust those reading...

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.

I'm back! Finally got some time to tackle the software problem that I had. I was having trouble figuring out how to get pbp to convert the raw cell data into usable readings. I was trying to use the same method that I used with the MM, but it wasn't working due to the differences in the way ...

Re: Help Needed with Mobility Scooter Batteries

I can also work out the slope, which will be easier. Current estimate is 200' in about 1500' but that is just a guess. I will get a more accurate reading shortly OS map should help, should be able to view something on the internet. Good point about connections, also anything getting warm after a cl...
