This is good stuff...I'm still doing a lot of research. OK I need to clarify something here. Although of course I'd like the lynch motor with a nice set of lithium batteries, that is just not going to happen with my "budget." The two hulls of this boat are made from scrap and the mast and ...

How come ICE starter batteries seem to do fine in the cold? It can get down to -20C here in the winter and I've never had a problem with starting...

Is it just that I don't notice the difference because it doesn't take that much from the battery anyway?

Thanks for the tips guys! These motors sound interesting, does anyone have a link to a place I can buy them/read up on them? I'm also interested in some kind of chart to compare watts with hp - I have no idea how strong an electric motor I need, but if I was buying an ICE I'd go for somewhere betwee...

Its a 1999 one, eventually ended up back at Adrian Flux. While Footman James gave me a VERY competitive they where unable to offer me a fixed value on the Berlingo  ChrisB Well I guess it's a bit late now, but have you considered trying some of the classic car insurers? three years ago when I ...

My thinking is that NiCad batteries are now reliable & the technology proven. OK I'm certainly no battery expert but don't NiCads still have the "memory effect" problem? Surely in an automotive application where the car has regenerative braking and where the driver is very unlikely to...

Hi I just wanted to poke my nose in and say that I, too, think that we should be offered a choice. The whole battery lease thing was what completely put me off the Think City. I'm the kind of person who never takes out a loan, and leasing feels very much worse than a loan for me. Instead of leasing ...

Since you say you wil be mooring it on the river you might be able to get the water flowing by to turn the prop and recharge the batteries (a tiny bit). Actually I have considered that, but it is a very slow flowing river...worth a thought though. On the other hand, just upstream is a large sluice ...

My project to build an electric boat

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, I couldn't find forum that applied so I picked "General." First I'd like to apologize for my recent silence, there's been a lot on here and we've moved house and <INSERT=EXCUSES> and <INSERT=MORE EXCUSES> so...</(MORE) EXCUSES> So anywa...
