Re: on board generator

Not a good idea. 1. Most generators dont deliver the stated output in a continuous usage. 2. You must use a high quality waveform, ie an Inverter generator. Poor waveform of cheap gennys has a lot of variation in voltage and a lot of spikes. I have had chargers of customers vehicles destroyed by doi...

Re: Allied Peugeot Boxer charging

The plug used the extra pins to act as a pilot and if you unplugged the van end of the cable, you broke the circuit and the main contactor in the wall outlet turned off the power. Neat but unusual. I now have the remains of the EV parts and the reason the vehicle was dead was a duff cell in the pack...

Turn Ign and nothing happens.

Two of my customers have recently left their cars for a while and the 12v battery has gone flat, result nothing works. You then need to charge the 12v battery , early ones have the std 12v battery under the bonnet on the near side. Later ones have a Gel battery under the rear boot floor. If you have...

Charging appears on gauge and it wont run

If you get the message on the small Curtis gauge "CHARGING" but the mains isnt in and the door is shut (Not on early cars) then you probably have a problem with the small blue reed switch tucked up above the back corner of the fuel flap. If this is fitted to your car , you will have a smal...

Re: Axima mega city - that works fine?

The fuse was probably over tightened and turned / stretched the open side out then making the contact at the fuse body too small. They should have decent sized washers above and below for proper contact.
Otherwise it was just loose.

Re: Citroen Berlingo Electrique

If nothing that suggests a lack of 12v . Check it out or charge the 12v battery off the van. Once charged. Put it in the van. Put a test meter on the 12v battery . Note the voltage. Turn on the ign and re check the voltage.
Post the results on here.

Re: Settings for charge rates on EVs

Depends upon the charger fitted. If its a 3kw (ish) then it will need 16amp, if its a 7kw it will need a 32a power outlet. (you can get 3 phase 22kw) The plugs and the power outlets let the car know what they can deliver and so cut back power taken accordingly. So plug a 7kw charger in say a leaf in...
