Ah well, you live and learn. Apart from the Berlingo, my modern car is a Triumph Herald or a Morris Traveller............ Didn't have such complications in them days!!!

Two and half finger typing results in the caps lock being hit more than it should!!
So, is this strange vaccuum servo arrangement for the brakes just an Electrique feature or a normal Berlingo/Citroen thing?

Alternatives to ICE!

Here is a picture I snapped recently to show ancient and modern alternatives to the Infernal Combustion Engine! A Foden Sentinel Steam Wagon (with a six cylinder coal fired steam engine) looked in to Buckfastleigh Station whilst on a road run. It is perfectly capable of speeds up to 45 mph and unlim...

Wilson Electric Car

A recent visitor to our easter Transport Gala at Buckfastleigh was this 1936 Wilson Electric Car. Powered by banks of lead acid batteries under the bonnet and in the boot it was an experimental vehicle. The owner told me that they only produced this one cabriolet plus a van. It had an interesting hi...

Ancient EV!

Here' s a picture of an ancient battery vehicle that I photographed at Buckfastleigh Station a year or two back. Dating from the early 1900's it is entirely battery powered. The driver sat in the rear bench seat and steered by way of a boat type tiller and the passengers sat in front. Unfortunately ...

I'm using my Berlingo with its 27 nicads on a regular basis but pretty well entirely on short journeys that involve around an average of 10 miles a day. Its what you might term urban driving although its between the congested town of Ashburton and up and down an undulating route between it and Buckf...

Thanks Chris! A lot to know about how these vans work. I've checked the auxiliary battery which says 11.42 volts. A tad on the low side but was still the same overnight, but I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm running the batteries down to around 40% from however high they got on the last recharge now (34% was the lowest), having done a few smaller cycles to start with. Its the starting load that takes it into the yellow - away from the station entrance, for instance, up a hill, and that hill I mentio...

OK, all jolly interesting stuff! I will check out the auxiliary - it looks alright but that's no guarantee, especially under the bonnet of a nice clean EV. I guess the use I can put the vehicle to will only result in short journeys - its 3.6 miles to work and 3.6 miles home. Choice of being chased a...
